There are several dates in my mother’s lifetime that she will always remember. She can still tell you exactly what she was doing when she heard that JFK had been shot, the day Elvis died and the day that the space shuttle blew up. The day that I will always remember is September 11th, 2001. My fiancée at the time and I were asleep and I woke up to my phone ringing. It was my mom telling me to turn the television on. The second plane hit right after I turned the TV on. I watched the news coverage until it was time for me to go to work. I was working at Citibank in Gray at the time. When I got there at noon, the blood mobile was already there for blood donations to help the victims. I immediately put my name on the list. We discussed at work that day what to do about our card members that were affected by this disaster. We decided that, to help them, we would waive their payments on their credit cards for a year. I donated blood when it came time for me to, finished my shift and went home to continue watching the news. This will be a day that will always be remembered. I hope nobody ever forgets it.
